TREAD (The Research Ethics Application Database)
TREAD is an open access, on line repository of ethics review committee application forms and consent documents
TREAD was launched in November 2016 and is hosted by The Global Health Network in collaboration with the Social Research Association.
TREAD was established by Professor Martin Tolich, an ethics review committee chair, who witnessed novice researchers struggling with a clash of theory, methodology and ethical principles, meaning that core ethical issues became secondary to a form filling exercise.
TREAD aims to support sound ethical practice by providing an opportunity to read how researchers from around the world have discussed ethical principles in their subject area or methodology when applying for ethical approval of research protocols. They warmly invite social science and medical researchers tot visit and contribute to TREAD.
