Invitation To Participate NIHR Call For Older People With Complex Needs Workshop

13 & 14 September 2017

CLAHRC & EAHSN together are delivery partners for the NIHR Older People With Complex Needs Workshop.

The ability to successfully secure external grants is essential for many researcher across our region. While calls for applications are inherently competitive, we increasingly see awarding bodies seeking evidence of collaboration across institutions. In addition, funders are often seeking applications to span one or more area of expertise, which unless researchers have the necessary opportunities to collaborate acts as a barrier for researchers applying.
The East of England is home to some of the most respected and inventive academic institutions in the UK. The CLAHRC, and Eastern AHSN have come together to support our research communities to collaborate and get ahead of the curve.

We intend to embark upon this new approach to support researchers interested in applying for the current National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) call for clinical and applied health research into the evaluation of healthcare interventions, health services, social care and/or public health measures for older people with complex needs. Our intention will be that this approach can then be replicated for other applied research grant opportunities in the future.
The intention is that we will run a 1 ½ day workshop and will then select up to three proposals which will be endorsed by the delivery partners and offered further customised support.

Learning Objectives
The objectives of the workshop are:
• to build the capacity of regional researchers preparing NIHR proposals through customised match-making and support.
• to strengthen collaboration between the regions academic/research institutions
• to establish longer term communities of interest for the regions researchers
If you attend the session you will be supported to create an enhanced abstract of your research, you will have access to a broader network of colleagues, and you will be given an opportunity to pitch for follow-up support and endorsement from the delivery partners.
