UEA are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Research Associate to join a research team headed by Prof Eneida Mioshi at the School of Health Sciences, University of East Anglia. This team investigates the impact of dementias and motor neurone disease (MND) in everyday living, more specifically the impact of disease on patients’ abilities to live independently, family burden, and their relations to clinical symptoms.
You will be based at the UEA campus and will be responsible for contributing to the implementation of all aspects of study research protocols across a number of research projects. These projects may include patients with a diagnosis of dementia, MND or those at risk of developing dementia, as well as proxy/family members (e.g. care-givers) and healthy controls. This will include the TASKed study, which aims to understand and develop strategies to manage everyday task performance in dementia.
You will be responsible for identifying potentially eligible participants, screening for eligibility, obtaining consent for participation, visiting participants (including home visits) data collection in various forms (interview, performance assessment, and administering standard dementia tests), test scoring, data entry, and delivering clinical intervention if this is part of the research project.
You will have a graduate level qualification in a Health Care related area, or an equivalent level of relevant subject knowledge/research experience. Dementia experience and experience of interaction with family carers is also essential.
