Project Manager (Fixed Term)

The National Institute for Healthcare Research (NIHR) have funded 11 ‘Medtech and Invitro diagnostic Co-operatives (MICs) across the country, each with a specific clinical focus for a 5-year term

The NIHR Brain Injury MIC is delivered in partnership between Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University of Cambridge, with a national remit and partners across the healthcare sector.

Led by Professor (Emeritus) John Pickard and Professor Peter Hutchinson, the aims are to:

  1. identifying areas of unmet need throughout the brain injury pathway that might be amenable to a technology-based innovation,
  2. promoting generation of innovative solutions through the facilitation of interdisciplinary communication and collaboration between the NHS, academia, industry and public organisations, and
  3. supporting the translational pathway of viable solutions from initial concept to successful market adoption of sustainable clinical impact.

Applications are invited for a project manager to provide 12-month fixed term post to support maternity leave and deliver the reorganisation of the BrainMIC management structure. The role-holder will be required to manage the BrainMIC work programme, and provide a comprehensive report on its findings at the end of the period against an existing template, ensuring that all activity, budgeting and reporting milestones are met.

The project manager will be based at Addenbrookes Hospital, with the ability to manage project teams virtually, and provide line management to at least one direct report. The role also comprises management of any outsourced relationships and contracts to industrial and academic partners. The role holder will interact with a wide range of collaborators (including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Patient and Carer representatives, Charities, Academics, Clinicians, NIHR partners and representatives from the wider MedTech infrastructure) and requires excellent communication skills.
