SciBarHealth Event in Cambridge

12 September 2017

Alzheimer’s Research UK will have a stand at the event – come along and talk to them from 6.30pm.

We have two speakers, both eminent in their fields:

Professor Giovanna Mallucci is known for her engaging talks and is Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Associate Director of the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) at the University of Cambridge, as well as Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital specialising in Dementia. She is also fellow of the academy of medical sciences.
Her lab is pioneering interventions targeting common pathways for treatment of dementia which will also be the focus of the UK Dementia Research Centre.
Giovanna will talk about her group’s recent discovery of licensed drugs targeting processes that kill brain cells that are ready for clinical trials in dementia.

Dr John Skidmore is the Chief Scientific Officer at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Cambridge Drug Discovery Institute (DDI) and is working with academics at Cambridge and beyond to build on their research-findings to develop new medicines.
John will explore what dementia is and how it is caused by diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer’s. He will then describe some of the new approaches towards developing treatments for these diseases being explored at the Cambridge DDI.

Entry is FREE and refreshments are available to purchase at the bar.
Please pre-book your place – only limited tickets available on the door
