Garry Barton


Professor of Health Economics


Professor Garry Barton has a chair in Health Economics and is a member of the Health Economics Group, Norwich Medical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of East Anglia and his main area of expertise is in the application and development of the methods of economic evaluation. Methodological work which Professor Barton has undertaken includes the comparison of two measures of utility (the EQ-5D and SF-6D) which can be used to measure the benefits of interventions, where the practicality, construct validity, and responsiveness of these two measures were assessed. As a health economist, Garry is a co-applicant on a number of pragmatic randomised controlled trials in a variety of clinical areas.
