About
Kate Spence has 30 years’ experience as a nurse. After a number of roles in various hospitals, in 1997 she attained her Specialist practitioner qualification in District Nursing (DN) and moved to the community. In 2014 she was supported by NIHR to complete a MSc in Clinical Research at Newcastle University. Kate’s current role is Clinical lead for District nursing and Community Matrons at East Coast Community Healthcare, a social enterprise providing community services across Norfolk and Waveney. Kate is passionate about delivering evidence based clinical practice in the community. During her CLAHRC fellowship, she will explore what is required to support a DN led initiative for pain assessment and management, for people living with dementia in local care homes.
