About

Roland is a clinical psychologist working with children and young people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders in Cambridgeshire. He has previously worked with adults with learning disabilities in various NHS contexts. His project is focussed on understanding how local service provision might better support the needs of young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour who are at risk of exclusion and placement in out of county residential schools. There are significant challenges associated with out of area placements - in terms of monitoring placements, financial costs of those placements, maintaining links with family and community, and managing a move back into the local area.
